Hong Wang, 35, born in China, received the Fields Medal at the opening ceremony of the International Congress of Mathematicians in Philadelphia on 23 July 2026. She is the third woman and the first Chinese woman to win in the award's 90-year history, after Maryam Mirzakhani (2014) and Maryna Viazovska (2022). Wang is a professor at New York University and at France's IHES. The other laureates were Yu Deng, John Pardon and Jacob Tsimerman. The Fields Medal goes to mathematicians under 40.

Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar told Parliament that the e-Zero FIR system for cyber financial fraud is now operational in 18 States and Union Territories, with more than 12,000 cases registered under it.
