Explanation

The fifth edition of SEMICON India runs from 17 to 19 September 2026 at Yashobhoomi, the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), in Dwarka, New Delhi. It is jointly organised by the India Semiconductor Mission, MeitY and SEMI. The theme is Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem. Over 500 exhibitors from more than 40 countries will take part, with six country pavilions. PM Narendra Modi inaugurates it on 17 September, after a global CEO roundtable on 16 September.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the National Sports Awards 2025 on 18 August 2026. No sportsperson was selected for the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, India's highest sporting honour; the last time it went unawarded was 2014. The selection committee was chaired by former SC judge Justice (Retd.) Arun Kumar Mishra. Seventeen athletes got the Arjuna Award, among them Vidit Gujarathi, Divya Deshmukh, Tejaswin Shankar and Treesa Jolly. In 2024 the Khel Ratna went to four athletes.

Explanation

In the National Sports Awards 2025, announced on 18 August 2026, para-shooter Rudransh Khandelwal of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, was named for the Arjuna Award. Born on 19 November 2006, he lost his left leg below the knee in a firework accident at a family wedding in January 2015. He competes in SH1-class pistol events and has represented India at the Paris 2024 Paralympics and the Asian Para Games. Only two para-athletes made the 2025 Arjuna list, the other being Ekta Bhyan.
